I just came back from
Lisbon, where I attended the
ECAL 2007 conference. I've written a couple of entries in the official blog:
on quotable phrases I heard and
a fairytale Brian Goodwin narrated; I'll keep doing it. Pity the blog has not been more active, because it has been a very exciting conference, with interesting keynotes, and a enthusiastic spirit.
I hadn't been in
Alife conferences since 1996, and it's been great to see that the spirit lives on. What's the spirit? Interdisciplinariety, looking at the big challenges in society and nature, and creating models for them.
Besides, unlike
the previous experience, the organization was quite good, with many events that provided ocasion for meeting again old friends, and a very present and helpful group of organizers. Which means that I'll probably try and send papers to the next version of this conference, and
ALIFE XI too.
